Sept. 11th, 2008 -- BVA Meeting, 7 pm, at the Merrick Gallery -- Bud Gibbons will be demonstrating oil painting techniques.

Oct. 8th, 2008 -- BVA Meeting, 7 pm, at the Merrick Gallery -- Christine Swann will be demonstrating pastel portraits. .

Nov. 13th, 2008 -- BVA Meeting, 7 pm, at the Merrick Gallery -- Watercolor demonstration by Pittsburgh artist, Ron Thurston.

Ron Thurston is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and past president of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. He is a founding member of Pittsburgh Underwater and served on the board of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Ron teaches workshops at Sweetwater and Touchstone and is President of Watercolors, an artists' owned gallery located in the heart of Pittsburgh's downtown cultural district.

Time: 6 pm. Place: The orientation room.at the Merrick Art Gallery.

Feb. 12th, 2009 -- BVA Meeting and Members' Critique, 7 pm, at the Merrick Gallery.

BVA's annual member's critique. -- bring your own paintings, finished or unfinished, to the meeting for a friendly peer review. We will also be designing ACEO cards to be sold as a BVA fundraiser. More information on BVA' s ACEO card project at our November meeting.

March 12th, 2009 -- BVA Meeting, 7 pm, at the Merrick Gallery.

Artist, Bill Vrscak, will be demonstrating his landscape painting watercolor techniques. Bill is a free-lance artist/illustrator and signature member of the American Watercolor Society. He is a realist painter whose work reflects a strong sense of freshness and simplicity, consistent with his attitude that "the simplest statements make the most impact." A frequent national award winner, his work is widely published. Vrscak studied painting and design at the Ivy School of Art in Pittsburgh and currently teaches painting workshops throughout the United States and Canada.

Apr. 14th, 2009, Tuesday -- BVA Meeting and Juror's Critique at the Merrick Gallery, 7 pm.

The program will be a critque of the BVA's Annual Valley Artists' Show by show juror, Russ Shaffer. This will also be the last BVA monthy meeting until Septemper, 2009.

Summer -- BVA's Plein Air Painting in the Park -- TBA

When and Where We Meet

With some exceptions the Beaver Valley Artists meet at 7pm on the second Thursday of September, November, February, March and April at the renowned Merrick Art Gallery, 1100 Fifth Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066. The October BVA meeting is now held on a Wednesday, the day before the second Thursday of that month.
